April 3rd, first day with scheduled activities

After a much needed rest the team visits the Missouri Botanical Garden in ST Louis after having breakfast with their host families. The ST Louis Gateway Arch is spotted by the team as they pass through ST Louis on their way to the Botanical Garden.

The team is accompanied by Mr. Gibbons, Rick Stephenson and his two daughters Ashley and Rachel. The temperature at present is very high above normal, some 90 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the usual around 50 degrees! Flowers are blooming and the grass is green everywhere. Many of the spring flowers have already finished blooming but there are still some flowers that bless us with their beauty.

At noon the team arrives at Granite City for lunch and team presentation at the Granite City Rotary Club. The team is warmly welcomed by the club President and the club Rotarians. After lunch and the presentation the team leaves for a tour of The ST Louis Art Museum. A photographic exhibition is visited at the museum as well as various other galleries showing contemporary art, Native American art and impressionistic art and Egyptian mummies to mention a few.

After visiting the Art Museum the team leaves for a short stop at the local Schlafly Brewery in ST Louis. After a refreshing drink at the brewery the team is transported to their host families for dinner and a relaxing evening.
